Help! I don't like my job and work!

This is a cool video from one of my friends. The life you currently live is a reflection of your beliefs about what you are willing to accept and tolerate. This applies to every area of your life including your work, your job and your relationships with other people...

This is the vital difference that separates people who live abundant happy lives from those who do not.

For instance, people who continue to stay in abusive relationships, work at jobs they do not enjoy, or struggle financially, do so as a result of the beliefs they hold.

Are you always fearful of losing in life?? Confront your fears!

Gambling is not the issue here.

A person who thinks that gambling is his way out of a wretched life loses just the same. A person who always relies on luck and uses gambling as a source of income also loses big time.

This type of person views gambling as a risk worth taking regardless of the effect it has on him. Gambling makes a person lazy and reinforces belief on easy money.

Deep within that person, he is losing part of his self-respect every time he engages in gambling.

Now, put yourself in the shoes of a neophyte salesperson. First time salespersons usually have this kind of dilemma: to be or not to be; to approach or not to approach the customer. Your fear of not being able to sell or get an order makes you back out even before you try.

If you do not make the act of approaching the customer for an order, you already lost it. But, if you do, you still have a good chance of getting an order or learning a lesson.

Of course, it depends on your convincing power of salesmanship. You have to be honest regarding your products or services. Do not promise what you cannot deliver. Deliver more than what you promise. These are just some of the steps towards establishing a lasting relationship with your customer.

Let us examine in detail the basis for your inaction, which is essentially the basis of your fear. What is your excuse for not approaching the customer or for not getting that order?

Fear can make you lose an order. It can stop you on your tracks as you approach the customer. Fear can stop you from doing an action because it can overwhelm you and make you afraid of taking a “no” for an answer.

Actually, there is probably an underlying reason for your anxiety, one that links to the fear of losing your job. If your performance is below par, expect to be fired.

Your performance has to be above par. To be able to do this, get rid of the fear of losing. Adopt a mindset that echoes, “I can and will get that order.”

Let us take the perspective of an aspiring businessperson. A first time entry into any business venture normally results to nervousness due to fear of losing his capital.

This fear escalates especially when the capital comes from hard-earned savings. Seeing hard earned savings go to waste as a result of a bankrupt business can drive anyone crazy. If this happens, he will have to start saving again; that is, if he is still young and has the physical stamina to do so.

The fear of losing is just one side of reality. Let us check out the other side, which emphasizes the courage to win.

Again, everything begins in the mind. Maintain the desire to win.

Encourage your mind to nurture the courage to win. Take some calculated risks. Be optimistic while keeping your feet on the ground. Be creative and think out of the box.

If you continue delaying your plans to achieve success because of your fears, you lose valuable time that could otherwise have been used for fruitful ventures.

If you eventually decide to scrap or abandon your plans, you lose the chance of a lifetime. Time lost is irreversible.

So, are you willing to confront your fears?

How do I live a purposeful life and achieve my goals?

Are you stuck?!

Are you trying hard to achieve your simplest dreams but you seem to be standing on the same square without moving a step forward?

Now, I will give you the super-smart proven success recipe that will help you get what you want faster and easier than before. This success recipe is your way to live a purposeful life and achieve your goals.

Get ready to unleash the power of your dreams.

1. Make Meaning!!

Make a meaning for your life and work. Do what you love and love what you do. Search for ways to live with passion. You are unique and you are here for a purpose.

Find the reason of your existence. Describe your role in life in 3 or 4 words. Forget about these long, general and not memorable mission statements. Be very specific about what you are here to do in this life.

2. Have a Hot Vision!!

Have a HOT vision; a vision that really inspires you and triggers your greatness. Your vision must be clear and motivates you to transform it into reality. Make it hot.

A hot vision gives you a tremendous amount of enthusiasm that makes you can’t stand still. Have a hot vision that keeps you alive and spices up your life. Have a hot vision that makes you an unstoppable achievement machine.

3. Design Milestones

Milestones are big goals and turning points in your journey. They are like indicators along the road to tell you that you are on the right track. Each milestone is a big achievement on your way to your ideal life.

4. Set Goals

Goals are small and specific tasks that define your action plan. Goals must be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely. Each goal is a step towards achieving one of your big milestones.

5. Get Going

Take action. The only difference between an average individual and a super successful one is taking action. Get going. Take the first step and keep the momentum. Just start. Be flexible to changes and improvements.
6. Project Positive Energy

Be optimistic. Broadcast powerful positive energy and confidence over your own media network. Positive energy will attract positive results and opportunities. Become a magnet that attracts success 24/7. You will always receive the energy you project. If you project positive energy you will receive multiples of it and vice versa.

7. Act As If It Is Happening

Act as if your vision is happening. Act as if you will never fail. Act with confidence and power. Keep your vision in front of your mind’s eye day and night.

Act as if you are living your vision. When you do that you will attract more opportunities and more success to your life.

8. Ignore the Doubters

Avoid negative people. They don’t have dreams and want everyone to be like them. They are dream robbers and energy vampires. Don’t care about what they say. Ignore anyone’s negativity and focus on what you want.

9. Face Fear and Uncertainty

Develop confidence and trust in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself and your dreams no one will do. Face your fears.

Fear will do nothing except stopping you from getting what you want. Let your dreams give you the power to face fear and uncertainty.

10. Create a Master Mind!!

Find a team with the same interests and dreams then work and think together. Have a soul mate who cares about achieving the same level of success as you do. Gather around yourself people more brilliant than you. Develop a strong network of influencers who can help you get what you want easily and quickly.

How to train your mind to 'think' positive: Kiss your worries goodbye

1. Start the day with cheers and smiles.

Your whole day depends on how you greet the morning. Therefore, as long as you welcome it with energy and high spirits, everything will go okay. You don’t want the rest of the day to get ruined, do you? Come on, smile! It doesn’t cost anything but is worth everything.

2. Ask for guidance.

Only God knows what we will be having on the day ahead of us. He will surely appreciate a few minutes of praying and asking for guidance from Him. Also, have faith on Him that He is more than willing to grant our requests as long as it is for our own good. With God as our guide, we don’t have any reason not to say and believe in the thought that I can do this. I can make it through this day. Nothing is impossible. After all, God is with me.

3. Plan the day ahead.

To avoid mistakes that will cause negative output on your daily activities that will later on become negative thoughts, it is better to plan your work first; after which, work your plan. Make sure today's goals are clearly defined and absorbed by your mind. This can be done even before you get out of bed each day, just so immediate addressing issues as they arise can be avoided.

4. Keep your mind focused on important things.

Set goals and priorities for what you think and do. Visualize practicing your actions. Develop a strategy for dealing with problems. Concentrate on things that need to be taken seriously, but at the same time, take time to relax and enjoy. This way, favorable results may take place.

5. Be detached from the outcome.

They say that life is like a Ferris Wheel; sometimes, you’re on the top, and sometimes at the bottom. This means that there will be times in our lives where some things would not turn out according to what we want them to be. Don't be annoyed if you don't get what you desire. However, do your best in everything you do. Only, don’t get too attached on the probable results that may only cause disappointments and upsets.

6. Try new things and challenges.

See learning and changes as opportunities. There’s nothing wrong in changing attitudes and routines as long as they are for the good and improvement of who you are and what you do. Doing new things may include considering more options for a project, meeting new people from different places, asking lots of questions. Through this, the flow of thinking is directed to improvement and negative thoughts will be easily eradicated.

7. Balance your desires.

We live in a place of opposites and duality – gain and loss, pleasure and pain, light and dark, male and female, love and hate. This is how the cycle of life goes. We can never have all the good things in life at the same time. In love, there will always be someone who gets hurt. In wealth, there will always be people who will not be fortunate enough. Measure and moderation is the primary key.

8. Be realistic.

Make sure that what you want is something possible. Hoping for something to happen which would never really materialize in real life will only bring you disappointment. For instance, you wish to lose weight. Therefore, you have to set a goal and act on appropriate measures within a period of time to achieve what you wish. Hey, No one can get slimmer overnight.

9. Keep track of your mental and physical health.

This way, you will know how far you can keep believing.
Know yourself. There is no other person in the world who can tell who you really are. Know your passions, favorites, and principles. Spend some quality time by yourself – reading, listening to music, day dreaming, and the likes. If you know yourself completely, you will be aware of how far can you go physically, mentally, and emotionally.

10. Love yourself.

Before you expect for other people to love and adore you, it is always you who needs to love yourself first. Make a positive commitment to yourself, to learning, work, family, friends, nature, and other worthwhile causes. Praise yourself as much as you praise others once in a while. When you start feeling confident about yourself, positive thoughts will naturally flow to your mind.

11. Laugh.

Enjoy. Have fun. Looking at the brighter side of life starts with entertainment and pleasure. Laughter is the best medicine, so they say. Whether your illness is physical or emotional, a few laughs and giggles can help you throw away heavy baggage such as anxiety, disappointment, or nervousness.

12. Keep a list of your goals and actions.

Familiarize yourself with things you want to accomplish and with the ways you must undertake to complete them. By the time you are certain of what you want to do and carry out in your life, a stronger mind and will power will exist within you.

13. Associate with positive people.

In every classroom, work place, or simply anywhere you go where there are groups of people, look for optimistic ones. There are lots of them, I’m sure. Associate with them, hang-out, discuss matters. They can help you build self-confidence and self-esteem.

14. Make it a habit to ask questions.

This is not equal to dumbness and ignorance; rather, it is associated with seeking more information and understanding matters clearly. With more knowledge, there is also more power.

15. Be open.

We have to accept the fact that we don’t know everything. And that we are continuously learning in every place we go, with every people we meet as everyday passes. We should not close our minds to new ideas and information that comes our way. Our mind is so spacious that it is impossible to fill it up completely. Thus, we should accept worthy things that may help us become better and brighter persons.

16. Have trust in other people.

Although it may seem difficult and risky to give trust to just any people, when you believe in them or confident on what they are doing for you, doubts and negative judgments on them will be unnecessary. Also, it will bring harmonious relationships between you and your colleagues.

17. Forgive and forget.

Mistakes and failures are the root causes of negative thinking. If we somehow learn to let go of all the pain, agony, and fear we try to keep inside our hearts and minds, then there will be nothing more to block our clear thoughts from being expressed. Forgive yourself for committing mistakes and forget these mistakes.

18. Learn from experiences.

Learning inside the classroom is different from learning outside it. In school, one learns the lesson first before taking an exam; while in real life, one takes the test first before learning the lesson. This test in the real life is our experiences. If we failed in that test, i.e. the experience is not so good, we study the situation and learn the lesson. From here, we can avoid committing the same mistake twice.

19. Count your blessings.

Focus on what you have rather than what you don’t have. Absence of our desires will only bring discontentment and disappointment that will only waste our time. Instead, be thankful and appreciative with all the blessings we receive.

20. Kiss your worries goodbye.

At the end of everyday, before going to sleep, there is no need to keep bad experiences and unhappy moments that had happened in the day within you. Let them go, throw them out of the window and kiss them goodbye. Dream sweetly. As a new day unfolds, new hope arises. Keep believing. Always have faith.

Do you unconsciously waste your energy on people, situations, thoughts, attitudes and events which do not serve you well???

Different governments, officials, environmental agencies exhort us to conserve the energy we use in order to save the environment and sustain our continued existence on the planet.

On a personal level I think that we also need to know how to conserve, focus and maximise our own personal supply of energy.

We unconsciously dissipate and waste our energy on people, situations, thoughts, attitudes and events which do not serve us well.

This leaves less space and energy for creating and attracting the kind of abundance that we want in our lives.

Interestingly enough I've also found that as I conserve, focus and thereby maximise my energy, I tend to use less energy on craving and acquiring "stuff", but more energy focusing on what is truly important to me, thereby helping the environment.

So here are 5 Ways to Maximise Your Personal Energy Supply.

1. Release Resistance

Releasing resistance will affect a profound change in your level of energy and how you view the world. Resistance often feels as though we are going against ourselves in order to satisfy some internal authority or a myriad of "shoulds" "oughts" and "have tos". It takes a tremendous amount of energy to be resistant.

Related feelings and behaviour include: procrastination, using willpower and discipline to effect change (otherwise known as "I Have To Struggle To Achieve What I Want"!), stubborness, inflexibility, wanting to be right rather than happy (a very popular one:), holding onto self limiting beliefs way past their sell by date.

Releasing resistance can be as easy as just making a decision to let go of whatever you are holding onto. Energy therapy also helps release resistance at a very deep level.

2. Reduce time watching TV

Watching TV unconsciously is very exhausting. Haven't you noticed that when you watch TV continuously and do little else, you become extremely tired? That's because you are merely a passive recipient of information that you're not fully engaged with. On an energetic level, taking in all of those rays from the TV (similar to a computer) is overstimulating on a physiological level. Of course while you are watch TV, it means that you're not doing something more productive.

Am I saying that you stop watching TV altogether? No, but to be more selective and watch only those programs that you are engaged with. I'd also say that stop watching the TV news - all of that manufactured fear really affects you on a cellular level. I find that my mindset, moods and overall energy improve significantly when I watch less TV.

3. Consciously create vacuums

Ever heard of the saying: "Nature abhors a vacuum". If you clean out an area of your life, you are giving the Universe a message to bring in something to replace it. This is otherwise known as energetic and/or physical clutter clearing.

Start with either. Most people find it easier to start with clearing out the physical which has an effect on their energies. You are consciously creating the space for change to occur and inviting what you want into your life. This is much much easier than efforting to make things happen.

4. Avoid/deal with Energy Vampires

One of the quickest ways to get an energy boost is to disassociate yourself from those with those whose energy drains you. It is very effective.

Unfortunately, it also becomes a little more difficult if they are your partner, member of your family, work colleagues or boss. It helps to develop a stronger set of boundaries and energetic protection, so that they are less likely to affect you in this way.

5. Create quiet time for yourself every day.

Not to do anything (unless it relaxes you), but just to clear and refresh your mind. We are human beings, not doings. There are times when our crowded schedule and minds don't allow space and time for the creative to be welcomed in.

Einstein liked to go sailing in the afternoons after working in the morning. Okay, most of us don't have this opportunity, but you get the point.

If you only do one of the above, then your life will undergo a profound change.

Every “failure” or not succeeding should rather be viewed as a learning opportunity

Nobody likes to fail, err or suffer of misinformation or misconceptions.

Every “failure” or not succeeding should rather be viewed as a learning opportunity. These can assist you finding your niche, calling and speciality.

WE have to take the time individually and collectively to see and uncover where our strengths in fact lie. Most of us choose a career at an early age, not even knowing if that is the right thing for us that we will be able to excel and grow into, outperform later in life.

WE accept mediocrity and failure and very often just accept our fate and keep going. WE find it hard to admit that we have in fact failed – even our own expectations. WE despair and claim ruin and disrepair!

WE rely on what we think is our natural abilities and skill-sets that enable us to utilize and tap into our transferable skills and talents in almost every situation, context and circumstance. This is not necessarily true for everyone, not even for most of us.

Being good at one thing under certain circumstances does not automatically follow that it is great on other fronts as well by default so to speak.

Our capacity and abilities will vary in context and circumstance. If you are great at finance, it does not obviously follow that you are great at sales for example.

Avoid feelings of despair over initial or any failure for that matter. Do not fight the tide or try to swim upstream all the time. Timing is everything, seek new openings that might lend themselves better to your skill-set and special talents.

You too can find your destiny, calling, success and happiness if you know what to look for, when, how to find and make the most of it, FOR YOU! YOUR LIFE! YOUR FUTURE!

Push the boundaries and capitalize on every opportunity that comes your way, without hesitation.

It is very hard to admit failure to thrive, succeed or achieve. Its lessons are hard to learn.

These include: making the most of these opportunities to form and shape us, refining our mastery and ongoing success, we need to keep going, find our niche and specialty, optimize our strengths and talents and not be derailed or discouraged so easily.

Consistency - Lack of consistency does not mean inconsistency

Who would ever think to say that these two aspects might actually HURT, HINDER success or happiness, business, politics and the like?

This is a true paradox! Sometimes used for defensive justification.
Consistency is often used as a bad excuse for failure and is dead wrong, simply put. You in essence are placing yourself at risk of sacrificing judgment, dismissing knowledge and experience, ignoring facts, changes and unfolding events, implications etc. just for the sake of ‘constants’

Being consistent is very different than being stagnant of inflexible, rigid or set in your ways. Raising inconsistency is not the idea either, rather propagating some open-mindedness, rather than closed or narrow-mindedness.

Life is about change! Reality is filled with it. Lack of consistency does not necessarily mean that you are inconsistent or lack character, turns as the wind blows, have no morals etc. In life, there are no one size fits all rile, situation, circumstance or context, solutions and answers for everyone and anyone.

Life is simply not like that or that simple. Lack of consistency does not mean inconsistency. On this we need to be very clear.

You can be responsive and still act, think and do from the core of your values, true to self and purpose, success and happiness principles and practice put forth here.

Life is not theoretical. It is practical, demanding, dynamic and ever-changing, expecting you to act accordingly.

If you are propagating consistency against all odds you are running the risk or putting predictability first and foremost, regardless of risk or reality. This is dangerous and risky!

It is the wrong strategy to follow and propagate for success and sustained change.

You will be asked and asking to give up good, solid judgment and common sense

Ignore expertise, experience, dismiss insight based on past, input etc.
Facts matter more than opinions etc.

It does not mean you are sacrificing all for being inconsistent, but MORE open-minded, flexible, agile and adaptable. That is what will bring you success.

You will find yourself more open to changing your mind, more receptive to new information or changes of circumstances, factors etc., crisis or pressure situations will be faced more easily and readily as part of life and not a weird occurrence or set-back necessarily.

Evidence and proof does not become the only determining factor, rather “fluidity” of judgment rules and rises above.

Politics and business are great playing and practice fields for these techniques.

Cycles of their on-going, dynamic being and functioning, being in touch with and aware of them, will guarantee successful processes and outcomes.

Decay is oftentimes a symptom of the lack of these dynamics. Being too set in your ways may actually hurt you in the long-run. Being too narrow, or closed-minded can put you at risk. Beliefs in consistency against all other odds, is a false sense of security.

It will not help you, it may hurt you. It can lead to irresponsiveness and make you slow to act, react, in a context and world that demands adaptability and agility!

A pre-requisite for success and happiness is life and movement at all costs, being open to changes and what they may bring. Handling and responding to these changes do not make you inconsistent per se, but rather constant in your approach to consistency and inconsistency! Success and happiness finds the midway!

Dedication, rigor, courage and according to own rules, definitions, principles of success and happiness will triumph in these situations. This is the only way to taste success on your terms and by your definition of what it is and means to you.
You do not need to be fickle and inconsistent, a hypocrite, but rather pursue to please and appease, but still do what is right, build your repute and reliability (even if perceived to be somewhat inconsistent (for the right reasons), while keeping your self-respect intact!

Are you bias??

We all have it and suffer from them! AND UNFORTUNATELY WE ALSO ACT ON THEM! Preconceived ideas – they plague and bless all of us, in different ways and to different extent.

It is extremely hard to identify and break with. It is a habit and so natural that we do not even realize or recognize most of the time that it is actually present and/or happening!

It is not a virtue and does not do much to help and empower us. Quite the contrary, this true vice can oftentimes trip us up and make us less effective, unsuccessful and even unhappy!

It causes damage and corrodes our relationships, interactions and exchanges we have with and in the world around us and those in it. These evil habits creep up on us when we least expect them to. Destructive, negative and often judgmental, they are out before we even had the time to think about what we are thinking, saying or doing (Based on or coming from these deeply ingrained bias, filters, prejudice and preconceived notions and interpretations)

Ever being called narrow-minded ? This means that your own opinions, outlooks, and even prejudice are all hard at work and very much alive and well. (despite our best attempts and efforts to curb them) Conscious and subconscious they direct our actions and words (sometimes we are oblivious and other-times aware of their workings, yet it is very hard to shake or get rid of their influence completely) They are so inherently part of whom we are, becoming and others know! They are mostly learned behavioral patterns and habits that exist, that we have become extremely comfortable with.

Youth, religion and politics even family and school can all be powerful forces and experience to be reckoned with! In-born, training, socializing, reason, prejudice are and can all be weaknesses that trip us up and make us less effective. They are not necessarily strengths to be relied upon in crisis for example. They are highly bias and unreliable and might even distort our views or lead us to the wrong conclusions.

Hating others or discrimination is a great example of this. We make our judgments based on what we see, think we know, hear, perceive, filter, think, have experienced etc. It is almost inevitable. We just need to be aware that it is happening and then do something to counteract it!

Forms of personal prejudice can only be disproved by the actual fact and experience to the contrary. You have to be curious, open-minded and aware of these things to actually change it.

Other examples could be irrational dislikes and accepted patterns of behaviour, predictable choices for comfort, habit or other ingrained reasons – missing out on great opportunities potentially! We need to have the courage and wherewithall to break through these biases.
We need to keep our habits and/or traditions at bay when it matters most.

Political conceptions can be extremely powerful too. Conflict, partisanship might actually cloud our vision and decision-making. We might not recognize change of circumstance and opportunity.

Lack of adapting to the demands of the environment and even a type of trained brainwashing can keep us from achieving our utmost!

Get rid of prejudices in your life and be more open-minded
Success will come quicker if we do fight against prepossessions, born of the past
Pursue actively those thoughts, behaviors that will ensure and sustain a happy, successful, and active life.

Lord Beaverbrook’s words echo well here:

“Prejudice is a mixture of pride and egotism,
and no prejudiced man, therefore, will be happy.”

Improving Efficiency: Success comes from loving our work

The consciousness of being superbly equipped for your work brings untold satisfaction.

Efficiency is the watchword of today. The half-prepared man, the man who is ignorant, the man who doesn’t know his lines, is placed at a tremendous disadvantage.

A student seeking admission to the Oberlin College asked its famous president if there was not some way of taking a sort of homeopathic college course, some short-cut by which he could get all the essentials in a few months.

This was the president’s reply: “When the Creator wanted a squash, he created it in six months, but when he wanted an oak, he took a hundred years.”

One of the highest-paid women workers in the world, the foreign buyer for a big department store, owes her position more to thorough training for her work than to any other thing. Between salary and commissions, her income amounts to thirty thousand dollars a year.

Speaking of her place in the firm, one of its highest members said to a writer: “We regard Miss Blank as more of a friend than an employee; and she came to us just twenty years ago with her hair in pig-tails, tied with a shoe string; and she was so ill fed and ill clothed we had to pass her over to our house nurse to get her currycombed and scrubbed before we could put her on as a cash girl. Without training, she would probably have dropped back in the gutter as an unfit and a failure. With training, she has become one of the ablest business women in the country.”

The term “salesmanship” is a very broad one; it covers many fields. The drummer for a boot and shoe house, the insurance agent and manager, the banker and broker, whose business is to dispose of millions of dollars’ worth of stocks and bonds—all these are “salesmen,” trafficking in one kind of goods or another—all form a part of the world’s great system of organized barter.

There are three essentials which must be considered in deciding on salesmanship or any other vocation, namely: taste, talent, and training. The first is, by far, the most important of all the essentials, for whatever we have a taste for, we will be interested in; what we really become interested in, we are bound to love, sooner or later, and success comes from loving our work.

To find out whether or not you are cut out for a salesman, you must first analyze the question of your taste and your talent. In this matter, however, it should be borne in mind that human nature, especially in youth, is plastic, and that we can be molded by others, or we can mold ourselves.

Even though one has not a strong taste, naturally, or a decided talent for salesmanship, he can acquire both, for even talent, like taste, may be either natural or acquired. By proper training in salesmanship, which means the right kind of reading, observing and listening, and right practicing, we can develop our taste and ability so as to become good salesmen or good saleswomen.

The basic requirements for successful salesmanship are good health, a cheerful disposition, courtesy, tact, resourcefulness, facility of expression, honesty, a firm and unshakable confidence in one’s self, a thorough knowledge of, and confidence in, the goods which one is selling, and ability to close.

True cordiality of manner must be reinforced by intelligence and by a ready command of information in regard to the matters in hand. It will be seen that all things make the man as well as the salesman—when coupled with sincerity and highmindness, they can’t but bring success in any career.

The foundation for salesmanship can hardly be laid too early. The youth who uses his spare time when at school, in vacation season, and out of business hours, in acquiring the art of salesmanship will gain power to climb up in the world that cannot be obtained so readily by any other means.

Fortunate is the young man who has received the right kind of business training. No matter what his occupation or profession, such training will make him a more efficient worker. Many youths have had fathers whose experience and advice have been valuable to them.

Others have been favored by getting into firms of high caliber. As a result they have been in a splendid environment during their most formative years, and in so far have had an inestimable advantage in success training.

Many people have the impression that almost anybody can be a salesman, and that salesmanship doesn’t require much, if any, special training. The young man who starts out to sell things on this supposition will soon find out his mistake. If salesmanship is to be your vocation you cannot afford to take any such superficial view of its requirements.

You cannot afford to botch your life. You cannot afford a little, picayune career as a salesman, with a little salary and no outlook. If salesmanship is worth giving your life to, it is worth very serious and very profound and scientific preparation and training.

I know a physician, a splendid fellow, who studied medicine in a small, country medical school, where there was very little material, and practically no opportunity for hospital work. In fact, during his years of preparation his experience outside of medical books was very meager. Since getting his M.D. diploma this man has been a very hard worker and has managed to get a fair living, but he is much handicapped in his chance to make a name in his profession.

He has a fine mind, however, and if he had gone to the Harvard Medical School in Boston, or to one of the other great medical schools where there is an abundance of material for observation and facilities for practice in the hospitals and clinics, he would have learned more in six months, outside of what he gathered from books and lectures, than he learned in all of his course in the country medical schools.

His poor training has condemned him to a mediocre success, when his natural ability, with a thorough preparation, would have made him a noted physician.

You cannot afford to carry on your life work as an amateur, with improper preparation. You want to be known as an expert, as a man of standing, a man who would be looked up to as an authority, a specialist in his line.

To enter on your life work indifferently prepared, half trained, would be like a man going into business without even a common school education, knowing nothing about figures.

No matter how naturally able such a man might be, people would take advantage of his ignorance. He would be at the mercy of his bookkeeper and the other employees, and of unscrupulous businessmen. And if he should try to make up for his lack of early training or education, he must do it at a great cost in time and energy.

Successful salesmanship of the highest order requires not only a fine special training, but also a good education and a keen insight into human nature; it also requires resourcefulness, inventiveness and originality.

In fact, a salesman who would become a giant in his line, must combine with the art of salesmanship a number of the highest intellectual qualities.

Yet in salesmanship, as in every other vocation, there is not one qualification needed that cannot be cultivated by any youth of average ability and intelligence. Success in it, as in every other business and profession, is merely the triumph of the common virtues and ordinary ability.

In salesmanship, as in war, there is offensive and defensive. The trained salesman knows how to attack, and he knows how to defend himself when he is attacked. Everything contained within the covers of this book has for its object the most effective offensive and defensive methods in selling.

How to brainstorm: creative Ideas: inspiration and innovation

The human capacity for ideas is something truly great!

For us, being creative and coming up with new ideas, answers and creative solutions, sometimes are easy, sometimes hard.

Yet, it is an integral part of what makes us uniquely human and having the capacity to grow, enrich, enhance, improve and develop.

Pushing ourselves beyond the limit, thinking outside the box for example are just some of the techniques we employ to come up with new ideas, inspiration and innovation.

We can master, hone, harness and make the most of our own and others’ creativity, innovation and inspiration.

We need to constantly be on the lookout for great new ways of getting ideas out there. This is how we will get ahead, continuing to thrive, grow and flourish.

We come up with new ideas for myriads of reasons, like being under pressure to be the best and solve problems, but also for the greater good, personal development, expression and satisfaction.

Being open-minded and receptive to new, innovative ways of thinking and doing things are essential for success and results. Developing and improving new ideas are some of the basic building-blocks for growth and improvement in business, as well as for our daily lives!

To have creative ideas you need good people, the right setting and atmosphere conducive and receptive to sparking that creativity and dynamic innovation!

Brainstorming is popular problem solving and innovation techniques in a wide variety of disciplines, like engineering, manufacturing, sales, and resource or project management.

To get results from new ideas, this process asks for a fine measure of creativity as well!

Sometimes coming up with new ideas can be a challenge. It may be difficult and/or expensive, then at other times working on the wrong type of idea, can be catastrophic as well! We even need to be creative with our new ideas and how use them, not just how we come up with them!

In many companies research and development often takes a back seat and brainstorming is just one technique you can use to ensure that this business priority does not fall by the way-side!

Novel, weird or even off-the-bat type ideas might not always be practical or ‘wise’, but sometimes this is where genius resides and reveals itself.

Absurdity oftentimes prove to hold some creativity keys that leads us to say that in brainstorming we never criticize, we generate new ideas first, and not evaluate them!

THIS IS THE FIRST AND GOLDEN RULE OF BRAINSTORMING! (initially at least!)

No matter how wild or crazy it might seem, ideas sometimes come from the strangest people and places we could possibly imagine. It can be quite a challenge, obstacle and task both personally and collectively to let go and just be creative.

We are taught to be in control, not absurd and this might actually hamper our own and dynamic interaction, innovation, inspiration and brainstorming. We need to create and environment conducive to coming up with GREAT, NEW IDEAS!

It is sometimes counter-intuitive, wild and crazy… and we need to learn to be OK with it!

Brainstorming is an innovative, idea-generating thought and action process for problem solving and inspired un-inhibited thought-creation.

According to online sourcing (www.wikipedia.org) brainstorming originated in 1953 in a book called Applied Imagination by Alex F. Osborn, an advertising executive and it has many potential applications and contexts where it can be useful and contribute meaningfully:

- Action plans
- Business planning
- Event planning
- Ideation
- Identifying client objectives
- Improvement on existing products, patents and services
- Improvements to process and businesses
- Innovations and inventions
- Marketing and advertising
- New product development
- Project Management
- Risks assessments
- Solving complex and technical problems
- Team building
- Trial preparation by attorneys
… and many more

Some more qualitative initial insights into the nature and dynamics of brainstorming, types, iterations, variations and more.

Brainstorming is a group process and idea-generation method. Its origin can be traced back to the 1930s. The key process , method and channel used for group-problem solving and new idea generation in a collaborative setting.

Technology can oftentimes be use for mass-brainstorming or large-sized groups and conferences.

It is also about so much MORE than mere ideas! It is about NEW IDEAS! It is also about the qualitative selection, prioritization, improvement, evaluation and implementation of those ideas afterwards that makes the whole endeavor meaningful and rewarding. This is how it really contributes to society, life, career, family, business and the future!

Brainstorming is said to fall into THREE major phases or ‘parts’(process-steps)

1) Fact finding (problem definition and preparatory steps)
2) Idea generation
3) Solution finding

Defining the problem is the first step, after which you need to gather any information that might relate to the problem.

Actual brainstorming activity is used to generate ideas, insights and angels to answer and solve issue and problem at hand.

Selecting the best ideas and solutions, implementing the answers round out the process.

TWO KEY PRINCIPLES FOR Brainstorming

INQUIRY, CURIOSITY WITH NO CRITIQUE - Suspended and deferred judgment – creative boundless and boundaryless invention, innovation and inspired, uninhibited flow of ideas
VOLUME and Quantity of ideas will lead to a couple of qualitative NEW IDEAS!

The biggest error in brainstorming is rushing to a judgment, critique or dismisses something.
Using our creative minds and energies is what we need to foster and focus less on the judging side of our brain!

Associations and connections, synergy is what leads to good ideas. This processing takes time and through brainstorming with self and others they can be brought to the surface, improved upon, brought from concept to reality – in the end making a contribution and difference, translating into meaningful action and effecting change, improvement and the like.

Going deeper and beyond is what brainstorming is all about!

Improve your life, living pace, getting things done!

Here are a couple of key time-planning type questions that you can and have to ask yourself:

- How is your day organized from waking to sleeping?
- How does each decision you make pertaining to time, useful, beneficial and uplifting, worth its weight in gold getting results.
- How do you structure and utilize your time ?
- How do you assign minutes, hours to important tasks to get things done?
- Do you get or feel stressed, in over your head, under pressure, if you do not do it, or have not had the time to plan your day, week etc.?

Here are some more of the benefits that you can tap into with good time management:
- reach targets and goals more effectively, faster etc.
- More and qualitative results quicker
- Be and have less stressed

All of us wake up or go to sleep with some set or list of to do’ s in our head, some write it down, others just rehearse their days through their mind.

We all are not just blown around by wind and whim. Does this ring true for you? Are you a list maker?

Are you a getting the job/tasks done type person, driving for closure, organizing and prioritizing, multi-tasking until things are/get done? TIME MANAGEMENT CAN HELP!

We all face competing priorities everyday and how we react to them, can also affect what we can and will get done.

We are living in increasingly fast-paced worlds and realities, contexts, with many key priorities to effect and execute.

Some feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of what they have to get done, that they are left debilitated, not able to complete anything well or at all.

Sometimes referred to as “analysis paralysis” or the inability to move beyond the planning and lists phases, with some real action, results and decisions.

Taking in and processing information on an on-going basis, constantly overloading your mind, worried, frustrated and without concentration of mind or energies plague us, at home, at work, in every aspect, or the most important areas of our lives, relationships and interactions, pursuits, hobbies, careers etc.

We need to figure out a solution to make the most of every day that is given and added to our lives, yet we struggle.

How are you and when do you know that you are successful and accomplished in the time management field.

If you can get the most out of not only every day but every hour, focusing on the things that really need to get finished and done, as opposed to feeling overwhelmed and grinding to a halt, accomplishing nothing much, then you know you are slugging it out and making some leeway with time and managing yourself better.

So, how do you make the most of every hour? Well, start fresh, take a little break, at the start, middle and finish of the hour, before the next.

Set aside a couple of things (say 3-4, or focus on 1 key/complex task that has to get done and simply get it done.

If you are working on more than one task, chop the hour into its 15 minute segments and get started on the first one. It sounds rudimentary, but that is really all you have to do.

Once that one task is checked and crossed off your list, move on to the next one. Do not get interrupted, distracted or called away from it. Tend to everything else that keeps you from finishing it, until you are done.

If the task takes a little longer than expected, see how realistic it is to still get all the other three done, or just part of them, deferring the lesser parts to a little later, or when you have a moment free. Your task list does not have to be set in stone, be a flexible, live, real-time dynamic, rather than a dead, rigid document.

If the latter, you will still soon feel the pressure, frustration of not getting everything done that you wanted too. Remain and be MORE patient and flexible with yourself as you adjust to this new way of doing things.

If you do not have a desk, time or calendar type planner (hard copy or electronic, handheld type device, digital organizer, filo-fax, small notebook etc. , get and learn, start to use a time planner of some sorts.

This will help you very quickly take control and make tangible what you are up against, what needs to be and get done. It makes visible and gives live and momentum to an otherwise overwhelming chaos and mess (without knowing what, where to start, what to do, etc. )

Now you can start not only planning today, every hour, where you need to be, what you need to accomplish, running errands, knocking tasks of the list one by one, but you can also plan beyond the short term, like medium to long term – your next vacation, setting financial/savings type goals and targets, planning for the year, major events, business or leisure travel, this month, this week, new week and yes, each day, starting with today.

For most, these types of activities are hard to start and/or stick by. One reason is tackling and focusing too much on the mechanics rather than the process, journey and results.

Have a master task list that is ranked and prioritized and start with the ones that are most important, most urgent, cannot wait, overdue, behind type of ones (typically relieving some pressure), so you can have more time to still plan ahead, work on some of the other tasks, Updating your calendar and a daily "actions" list as often as you can, focus on tomorrow and the remainder of the week, the weekend and next week.

Very few people are surprised that all of a sudden they feel more relaxed and have more time on their hands to do the things they enjoy and be with those they love, even pursue things (activities, hobbies, socials), that they did not have time for before.

Again, most of these planning and preparing activities do not come naturally for the majority of us. To some, yes, who are blessed with attention to detail, routines, rites and personal rituals, but not all of us!

These tools can help, only to the extent that they better and improve your life, living pace, getting things done, flows with your lifestyle, pace, responsibilities and realities of personal, work and family life.

You can synergize, coordinate, organize and harmonize these things into a well-sounding clockwork type symphony, if you put your mind and heart, as well as purpose into it.

Pursuit of happiness

There is a time and place for everything or so the saying goes. There are times to show the utmost of restraint and times call for moderation.

Being in control of yourself, your fate, reactions and ensuring an even-keel response, pro-active stance will go a long way at getting you success and happiness.

We are called upon constantly to do more with less, be successful at any costs and remain sane in the process. It calls on us and demands that we remain cool and collected under pressure and in control of situation, process and outcome, while striving to get better, and, and… the list goes on. We feel the stress and demands of modernistic living intensely real and vividly part of our daily lives.

We need to understand that health is vital and giving it you all 24/7 will start taking its toll if it is always at your own expense. You need to be healthy to be at your best. If you show courage and stamina your physical and medical condition either enables or hinders these processes and outcomes. You are MORE than nerves, stomach and brain! You are a holistic being and mind, body, soul are one functioning and interacting whole – you need it all to be in balance.

TO DO THINGS IN MODERATION is the answer and the key here. This goes for drinking, partying, finances, ambition, law, socials etc. For every aspect and area of your life, balance views are important.

Be strict and disciplines, committed to your personal success and well-being, within the boundaries of acceptable and advisable. What and how do you react and respond, when under pressure or stress?

What happens to you?

Going flat and all out at all times can be highly tricky and risky. Enthusiasm, skill, talent, confidence – all in moderation will serve you best. Our physical resources we should safeguard and manage, including our nutrition, exercise, energies and more.

Vigor and judgment will be affected if you are not well-rested, allow for vacation and the like, some down-time and plan for activities you enjoy, time with your family, balancing the needs and demands of work and family.

Playing and working hard, with self-control, allowing for some rest will ensure balance and success in and over the long haul. You need to be able to manage and govern yourself and your resources to the best of your advantage and for your purpose, direction and undertakings.

Determination, strengths, power, physique, stamina, energy all can contribute or ruin you, if you let it! Setting goals and scheduling time alone and for resting also needs to get priority for you to be at your best, especially when life throws a curve ball or new demand or two your way.

Keep your life uncomplicated, simple and find routines, rites and rituals, that work for you and your needs. Schedule accordingly and do not over-commit yourself.

Fresh air, sun, health and sound judgment all go hand in hand for all-round well-being and more effective functioning, helping us take care of everything that needs to be addressed.

Indulge yourself in activities and hobbies you enjoy and can have fun with from time to time. Deliberately plan them into your schedule and stick to it. Make some time for yourself and the things that you do enjoy.

Life is not getting any less complicated or less busy, so in our fast-paced world, moderation is more than a pre-requisite, it is a life essential and survival skill you absolutely have to have in your personal arsenal for success and happiness.

Industry, invention, ambition and enterprise drive and fuel these forces in and on our lives ever-forward. WE are both slave and master of the things and world around us. We need to focus on sound knowledge, skill, experience, expertise, solid meaningful and informed judgment, courage and even self-discipline to succeed and be happy.

We need to restrain and keep our lives from spiraling desperately out of control and sometimes this might actually mean saying NO to some things, prioritizing better and quitting some activities, compromise and sometimes doing simply NOTHING at all!

Success Factors

We naturally want to gravitate to what success offers. It comes naturally for our curiosity, nature, appetite, heart’s desire and purpose.

Success for most of us means taking the high road, aspiring to something more and beyond, reaching ever-higher, to achieve, grow, expand and get better. It is ingrained and instilled in us almost.

Success is then typified as mastery and being in control of destiny, process and outcome, not feeling helpless, a victim of events, random chance and the like. Success embodies our wants, needs and desire as individuals, as human beings!

Living life to its fullest potential is at stake here.

Success if mind over matter and within our every easy reach. It is about the balance between moral and ambition, regardless of your role, function or contribution in society. We all want to taste of success and be successful. We envision, crave and work (even manipulate if we have to) our way for and towards it.

Success is individual and unique and collective. Whether artiste, soldier, business executive, media representative, clerk, we all strive for a better life and getting ahead. It is common bond and factor we all share. Success is within reach of all, especially those who choose to embrace it fully.

WE can make and claim our reality and destiny into being and some argue this is the only true path to success – know and make happen what you are striving for, discover and execute for SUCCESS! YOUR SUCCESS!

BOTH choice, free will, predisposition and assets can help, hinder, improve, destroy, showcase, trip up, even grow and expand our own success.

You need to know what your special gifts and talents are in order to tap into them effectively! But what contributes to being successful or tasting SUCCESS in your life?

There are 3 interwoven and inter-related concepts, forces at work here in this success dynamic.

a) Health: Well-being
b) Judgment: Ability/Knowledge, Intuition
c) Industry: Ambition

We ultimately define what, who we are, achieve, plan and execute in terms of success or failure – it is just what we do and how we go about it! It is normal and human to do so!

Success is important and means a lot in our modernistic society. We are all measures and held up to this “arbitrary” standard of achievement and SUCCESS in some form or another. But success does not just come by itself, without hard work, discipline and commitment amongst other things (more on this later)!

SUCCESS is also NOT GUARANTEED under all circumstances. There will be times we/others fail to achieve or be successful. That is the flip-side of the reality coin! Sometimes brilliant ideas and genius just does happen and we need to recognize that too.

Focus, capacity, fore-sight, insight, gauging self and intent of others, wisdom, shared and past experiences, making sense of the present and future based on these insights and expertise, taking decisive, meaningful action in the here and now and in the foreseeable future. Success seeks the core of something with precision accuracy and purpose, taps into this wisdom and improves upon it. This is the wonder of the human capacity in action.

Knowledge and sound judgment needs both to be present for successful endeavor.

Our industrious nature, survival and utilizing resources work together to make the dynamics of success a reality in our lives and existence. You need to be present in the moment, at the right place at the right time to capitalize on what life and success has to offer you.

We are creatures of habit, social nature, learning, mastering, improving and industry. We want to and have to learn, evolve and get better. It is ingrained and hard-wired into us somehow as a species and being. Anyone and everyone has potential and inherent success to pursue, discover and manifest.

Knowing when and where to act (applied, practical, timing for industrious pursuits) is the key to success and making this real. You do need knowledge, foresight, timing and these elements work together with sound opinion, informed decision- making and meaningful, appropriate action to be SUCCESSFUL! You need them all!

Focus and purpose goes without saying – they are the prerequisites for successful endeavor and execution. It is a learned skill and refined art. If applied and practiced can make all the difference in your life. Our nature will help us NOT waste these talents, opportunities and gifts.

It is of the utmost importance, that we are also stewards of our self, our body, mind and soul, our total well-being.

For without it, it will be almost impossible to enjoy the other aspects and success overall, all-round in our lives. Balanced living, regular exercise and diet will all contribute to ensure your lifestyle enables, empowers and effects SUCCESS!

Activity levels need to be consistently upheld to get the most from life! Being fit for both work and play, will help you lead a MORE balanced life. The one is no more means to an end. They are and have their own right and influence in and on your life. Success is NOT a popularity contest.

You are not in this “game” of life, for the sake or approval of others. Your endorsement and reward will come from inside, not from outside, others, work, money etc. You define the parameters of what success is and means to you.

Remember also that too much of a good thing is never enough or necessarily good for you! Have and enjoy all things in moderation. Have focus and goals, but not fuss, stress or obsess over them the whole time that you get lost in the mechanics and the process, losing sight of the goal and enjoyment along the way that is life and success!

Pleasure and the pursuit of happiness is not all that life and success is about either. It will not satisfy and cannot be sustained over time. Time, experience, repetition, charm, amusement, laughter, drinking, socializing, vanity all loses its appeal after a while.

This is not what success really is or measured by. It is lonely and empty and existence, futile and void, not satisfying at all. What you work for now, can be enjoyed later, seems like a good plan, others live for the here and now, in the moment.

To each his or her own. It takes more than brainpower and cash to be successful. If you have both, you might also have a sense of being in control and having some power or say in and over your life, happiness and success.

Fame, reputation, ambition, possessions, achievement mean different things for and to different people. We all have our own unique way of defining success. (You probably have your own vision, picture and description in mind of what SUCCESS is for you)

Talent and opportunity set the stage for greater things to come. Ambition, discipline and commitment the main players on this stage at any and all phases, stages of life and pursuit.

Equal opportunity for all exists. You will not be discriminated against due to where you come from, who you are and what you have – you have potential – you need to put that to work for yourself.

Success is not a birth-right, guaranteed, can be embraced, pursued and executed by anyone and everyone who is willing to take that risk and embrace their destiny. Success and power is not just for the rich and famous, genius or well-educated.

Strive for your own well-being, work at it deliberately, improve your knowledge, expertise, experience, prowess, mastery and hone and harness it to your advantage, improving as you go along your journey of life and success.

Be open-minded, keeping your eyes peeled for opportunities around you that present themselves, create your own, be industrious and reach constantly higher. These form the cornerstones of modern-day success.
